Stay safe out there by keeping these 3 common construction site hazards in mind at all times.

1: Heights

Studies show that almost half of all worker fatalities happen when people fall from a height. This can be avoided by implementing stricter safety measures, like scaffolding with double-guard rails, safety nets, and – of course – by wearing the necessary PPE gear (like safety harnesses).

2: Slips and Falls

The HSE says that about a quarter of all work site injuries happen when workers trip and fall. While construction sites can be unpredictable at the best of times, slips can be avoided by managing access routes via carefully planned footpaths and excavations. And when slips do happen, make sure your workers have PPE that’ll keep them out of ICU. Also remember that different surfaces can be treated with different materials to protect teams, like grit for ice and stone for mud.

3: Moving Objects

According to the HSE, 12% of workplace incidents happen when workers are struck by a moving object or vehicle. While construction sites are ever-evolving environments, often on uneven terrain, the area should be managed with physical barriers, segregation, and PPE gear for all on site (like hi-vis jackets and hard hats).
